Day 2 – Getting our bearings

 Chicago

Up bright and early and full of beans , we wandered over to Navy Pier before 9 – everything was amazingly quiet . The weather was fantastic – clear blue skies and a light breeze out on the pier which kept things bearable. Eventually ended up at a McDonald’s for breakfast as nowhere else appeared open. After a wee wander around we headed into town on the free tram from Navy Pier and found Mag Mile. Hilarious queue at the Apple Store for the iPhone 4 launched that day (we assumed). A trip to Macy’s was successful – shoes for me and a jacket for him.
We continued on down Mag Mile to the river where we took a river tour at 1.30. This was excellent and very informative. The architecture and the history of the city was explained by a young student working his way through college.
We ended up at Timothy O’Tooles for a few beers (him) and then back to the hotel via the 7Eleven for hotdogs and soup.
The snooze was quite long today – still a bit jet lagged I think so we didn’t venture out till 9ish by which time we just had to go to – Timmy O’Toole’s again. Got chatting to a bar fly who lived nearby – nice guy. Had some munchies there later and back to hotel for about 11.30
