| From Buddy Guy's - 25.06.10 |
We headed for the Willis Tower today – the tallest building in the USA. It was a reasonable walk but great for sightseeing and taking in the atmosphere. The usual queues at the tower went down quite quickly and we were soon up on the 103rd floor. Maurice ‘did the ledge’ while I took pictures as evidence. We sussed out Union Station – extremely busy so then we headed for the Taste of Chicago in Grant Park. It was a bit overpriced and very hot – masses of fast food joints all together in the park effectively – but there was entertainment too which was interesting enough. Took various pics before heading back along the lakeshore and on to Timmy O’Toole’s again. The legs and feet really felt the walk. After the snooze and freshen up we went to Buddy Guy’s club Legends which was heaving. Drinks were a bit overpriced but the entertainment was amazing. The best act we saw was Quinn Sullivan – 11 years old and a fantastic blues guitarist. Buddy Guy appeared in person and signed some t-shirts before joining Quinn on stage for an excellent session. The club was full of people going to Crossroads the next day – the ambience was fantastic – everyone was friendly and in town for the gig from all over the US – Tennessee, San Diego and Canada too. What a night! Finished the night at Timmy O’Toole’s with some munchies.
